While launching the Marathon, the CA Director General, Mr. Francis Wangusi said that sponsoring the event shall provide a great opportunity for the Authority to create awareness of its new brand. “It will also be a good platform to announce the presence of our office in Eldoret town and an honour for us to take part in the heritage of the people of Eldoret, the Home of athletics champions,” he added.

The Authority, in a bid to take services close to the people and in the spirit of devolving services as envisaged in the Constitution, is rolling out regional offices. The first phase will see the establishment of offices in Eldoret and Mombasa to serve the Rift Valley and Coast Regions respectively. The offices will be operational in the next two months.

The Authority shall sponsor the Marathon at a cost of Ksh4.7million and has partnered with Postal Corporation of Kenya (PCK) and Athletics Kenya to provide technical and logistical support. The winner (men and women categories) will walk away with Ksh250,000 prize money.
