Communications Authority this week took part in the Mombasa ASK Trade Fair for the second year running.

The Trade fair presented the Authority with an opportunity to interact directly with the residents of Mombasa and apprised them on the regulatory activities of the Authority including the change of name. The trade fair also presented an opportunity for the Authority to announce its intention of opening an office in the Coastal town later in the year.

The CA stand was visited by H.E. President Uhuru Kenyatta who was taken through the regulatory initiatives of the Authority including digital migration, radio spectrum monitoring, competition management and cyber security among others. The Authority stand was also visited by the ICT Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i and his Education counterpart Prof. Jacob Kaimenyi as well as the Principal Secretary for East African Affairs, Commerce and Tourism, Dr. Ibrahim Mohamed.

The Authority’s stand was rated the best in Electronic and Media Services, while it emerged third in four other categories namely: Best Stand Embracing Information Technology and Communications Systems, the Best Organization or Association in Community Stand, Best Stand that Promotes National Cohesion and Integration Development, and the Best stand in Youth Activities, Empowerment and Capacity Building.

The show ended on Sunday, 31st August 2014 and the Authority has its sights now set for the Nairobi International Trade Fair from 1st to 5th October 2014.
