International Obligations

Kenya is a member of international affiliated organizations in the field of Information and Communications Technology (ICT).

As the ICT sector regulator, the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA)is the designated government representative to these international affiliated organizations in the field of Information and Communications Technology.

The Authority draws its mandate from the Kenya Information and Communications Act,1998,  Cap 411A, Section 5 (3)and 5(4)(b).

In this regard, CA attends the forums responsible for significant decisions that affect the entire ICT sector globally, and by extension have impact on local ICT activities.

Recommendations arising from these meetings are localized and implemented at a national level in close collaboration with industry stakeholders.

The CA is also responsible for meeting the country’s financial obligations to these international ICT bodies through payment of annual subscriptions, where applicable, to the organizations.
