The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) is the regulatory agency for the local ICT industry with responsibilities in telecommunications, e-commerce, broadcasting, cybersecurity and postal/courier services. CA is also responsible for managing the country’s numbering and frequency spectrum resources, administering the Universal Service Fund (USF) as well as safeguarding the interests of ICT consumers.
Noting the global trend on the Internet with regards to usage of Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) , and the current slow rate of adoption of IPv6 addresses in Kenya, the Authority has developed a draft IPv6 migration strategy, meant to bring impetus to the current adoption rate.
To ensure the views of all stakeholders are factored in the guidelines, the Authority is subjecting the said strategy to a stakeholder consultation process. The draft strategy is available on the Authority’s website at: https://www.ca.go.ke/consumers/public-consultations/open-consultations/
Stakeholders and members of the public are invited to send their views, comments and representations to IPv6@ca.go.ke on or before 21st May 2021.
