The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) is the regulatory authority for the ICT industry in Kenya with responsibilities in telecommunications, e-commerce, broadcasting and postal/courier services. CA is also responsible for managing the country’s numbering and frequency spectrum resources, administering the Universal Service Fund (USF) as well as safeguarding the interests of users of ICT services.
The Authority is also responsible for protecting consumer rights within the communications environment and managing competition within the sector to ensure a level playing ground for all players.
In a bid to stimulate innovation, enhance competition, offer consumers a range of telecommunication service choices, the Authority has reviewed its existing Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) guidelines developed in the year 2005.
To ensure the views of all stakeholders are factored in the guidelines, the Authority is subjecting the said guidelines to a stakeholder consolation process. The draft guidelines are available on the Authority’s website at: https://www.ca.go.ke/consumers/public-consultations/open-consultations/
Stakeholders and members of the public are invited to send their views, comments and representations to VoIP@ca.go.ke on or before 9th April 2021.
