David Mugonyi Appointed CA Director General

Mr. David Mugonyi has been appointed the Director General of the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) effective 15th January 2024.

The Board of Directors settled on Mr. Mugonyi after a rigorous interview process. A press statement by the Board Chairperson Ms. Mary Mungai, indicated that Mr. Mugonyi boasts a stellar leadership experience spanning over 20 years in the public and private sector.

"Mr. Mugonyi brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role, having amassed 23 years of distinguished service across the public service, media, and strategic communications," said Ms. Mungai.

Prior to his appointment, Mr. Mugonyi served in various capacities, including over a decade leading strategic communications for the Government of Kenya.

As the Head of the Presidential Communications Service, he played a pivotal role as the primary advisor on communications, perception, and reputation management. The Board expressed its strong confidence in Mr. Mugonyi's track record in public service and strategic communications to steer the Authority to continued growth and success in the coming years.

"We look forward to working closely with Mr. Mugonyi as the organization continues to play a central role in shaping and regulating the communications landscape in Kenya," added the Chairperson.

Mr. Mugonyi holds a Master's Degree in International Journalism from City University in the United Kingdom, a Bachelor's Degree in Education from the University of Nairobi, and a Diploma in Mass Communication from the same institution.
