Kenya has secured a seat on the Pan African Postal Union Plenipotentiary Conference Administrative Council (2026โ€“2030) and will host the Eastern Africa Regional Digital Hub, boosting its role in Africaโ€™s postal and digital transformation.

Kenya, represented by Principal Secretary Mr. Stephen Isaboke, emerged as a key beneficiary of the conference outcomes. The Kenyan delegation successfully secured a seat on the PAPU Administrative Council for the 2026โ€“2030 term, positioning the country at the center of strategic decision making in Africaโ€™s postal ecosystem.

โ€œWe recognize this Plenipotentiary Conference not merely as a routine meeting, but as a critical opportunity to redefine and propel the African postal ecosystem forward. The future of Africaโ€™s postal sector must be digital, integrated, innovation driven, and increasingly powered by emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence,โ€ Mr. Isaboke stated

In a major boost to its digital leadership, Kenya was also selected to host the Regional Digital Hub for Eastern Africa. This milestone stamps the countryโ€™s growing influence and commitment to advancing digital transformation and modernizing postal services across the region.

The Regional Digital Hub, once operational, is expected to serve as the nerve center for harmonizing postal laws, advancing fintech solutions, and accelerating the integration of mobile money ecosystems across Eastern Africa.

โ€œSecuring the Regional Digital Hub and our leadership roles within PAPU is a clear validation of Kenyaโ€™s โ€˜Digital Superhighwayโ€™ agenda. We are no longer just delivering mail; we are building the infrastructure for Africaโ€™s e-commerce future. This win belongs to every Kenyan as we position our nation at the heart of the continentโ€™s digital transformation,โ€ Mr. Isaboke said.

Zimbabwe and Uganda candidates were re-elected as PAPU Secretary-General and Assistant Secretary-General, respectively, an outcome that reflects continuity and stability in the Unionโ€™s leadership.

Across plenary sessions, Kenyaโ€™s delegation drove substantive conversations about the structural reforms needed to drag Africaโ€™s postal networks into the digital age.

The Kenyan delegation included John Tonui, Post Master General, Crisphine J. Ogongo, Deputy Director for Telecom, Postal and Courier Licensing, Addressing and E-commerce, CS, Samuel Rambo, Deputy Director.Litigation and Commercial Services, Albert Mwaniki, ย Officer I Postalย  Compliance and Enforcement and Faith Munuhe,
